CityMusicKidz is CityMusic's Youth Orchestra in Slavic Village. Based on the phenomenally successful El Sistema Program originating in Venezuela, we work with youth from grades 1 through 11 by providing them with string instruments, and by teaching them from the ground up how to play in an orchestra, starting with how to read and listen to music. The program has been in place since 2007.
The program is open to any child living in Slavic Village, and is located at 3722 E. 65th Street (storefront), Cleveland, Ohio 44105 for 28 weeks out of the year between September and May. The Orchestra meets Monday and Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The program enjoys generous support from The Corinne L. Dodero Foundation for the Arts and Sciences, The Third Federal Foundation, Slavic Village Development Corporation, Councilman Anthony Brancatelli, and free-will donors like you! For information on how to donate (money or string instruments), volunteer, or enroll in the program, please contact Executive Director Eugenia Strauss at 216.321.8273, or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
